Simeon Career Academy is a high school in Chicago, Illinois, known for producing many successful basketball players, including Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose is a former NBA basketball player who played for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and now the Brooklyn Nets. He was born on October 4, 1988, in Chicago and attended Simeon Career Academy from 2003-2007. During his high school career, he led the school to two state championships, earning the title of Mr. Illinois Basketball both years. He went on to play college basketball at the University of Memphis before being drafted first overall in the 2008 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. Rose won the NBA Rookie of the Year award in 2009 and was named the league's most valuable player in 2011. Despite his numerous injuries throughout his career, Rose is widely regarded as one of the most talented players in NBA history.
